1643」 Jean Bolland, Bollandists, Acta Sanctorum (1643); Rob Pearce has compiled a list of the volumes of the Acta Sanctorum online at Google Books and Archive.org.

The Acta Sanctorum (Acts of the Saints) is “an encyclopedic text in 68 folio volumes of documents examining the lives of Christian saints, in essence a critical hagiography, which is organised according to each saint’s feast day. It begins with two January volumes, published in 1643, and ended with the Propylaeum to December published in 1940” (Acta Sanctorum Database)

The Bollandists, “an association of ecclesiastrical scholars engaged in editing the Acta Sanctorum” (Catholic Encycolopedia, NewAdvent.org) were named for the Jesuit, Jean Bolland (‘Bollandus’, 1596-1665) the first scholar who oversaw the publication (Société Des Bollandistes).
